Match day rules of the

Dunton Orchard Golf Society

See Covid Challenge for 2020 rules

Players should adhere to the basic principle rules of golf as stated by the

 R&A wherever possible.

We as a Society do not allow any alternative types of play unless

pre-stated by the organising Committee before the commencement of any Society match day.

All holes in play must be completed fully and your golf ball must be holed out in order for a correct score to be recorded.

We do not allow > Gimmes or Mulligan’s at any monthly match. (Gimmes may be agreed for Matchplay only)

If during the course of play an issue arises within a playing group, a challenge should be made immediately by any player from within that group to the player concerned and a solution agreed (if possible by correct rules being applied) within the playing party with minimal undue delay or disruption to play.

If an issue needs to be further addressed it should be brought to the attention of the Committee at the end of day proceedings for a resolution to be found.

                                --------------------------------------------------

It has been agreed by the members to allow for electronic measuring devices to be used during Society golf match days and any Society arranged game. As per R&A guidelines.

It has been agreed by Committee to implement the Extra Rule allowed regarding golf ball Lost or Out of Bounds. ie: add an extra 2 stroke penalty instead of stroke & distance. As per R&A guidelines.

                                 -------------------------------------------------

In the event of a Stableford points draw between players at the end of any match, we will count back hole scores, back 9, back 6, back 3, last the 18th.      In that order to determine the winning Stableford score.

                                 -----------------------------------------------------------

CONGU is the scoring system we will use to determine a playing handicap.

Handicap maximum for any player is 36...

Players with a recognised affiliated CONGU club handicap must inform the Secretary before playing a Society match. This h/cap will  be assessed and may be used for the forthcoming season or adjusted accordingly.

All new players without h/cap will be assessed on the first 3 cards submitted to ascertain the correct playing level appropriate and issued a handicap card.

All players within the Society having previously been assessed will play with their given handicap for the forthcoming season, each handicap will be reassessed after every Society match, once your score card has been received and input to the computer.

Handicaps may be reviewed & adjusted at the end of each season before re-issue for the new season starting.

                                        --------------------------------------------

The winner of any Society match will recieve 1 stroke permanent h/cap cut.

Society temporary high score h/cap cuts for the next match only

 **read the astrix **

A player scoring 38-39 points will receive a 1 stroke handicap reduction.      A player scoring 40 points or higher will receive a 2 stroke temporary handicap reduction.

Any strokes lost for a high Stableford score will apply for 1 match only   (your next match played) before being regained.

** Unless a consecutive high score occurs 38+ points, then your cut will be deducted from your handicap permanently and a new handicap issued **.

(You will be deemed capable of playing at a lower H/cap).

                                        -----------------------------------------------------

The Society Champion will be the player with the best individual Stableford points scored or received* from the 8 matches the Society play during the season.

 * If you are only able to play in 7 matches you will be awarded 75% of whatever Stableford you score in the match immediately after your absence ( ie: if you miss game 4 you will recieve 75% of game 5 Stableford score, or game 7 score if you miss game

This bonus score will be added at the end of the season.

This will allow for players to have a single absence for holiday, illness or family commitments and still be able to challenge for a trophy or league position.

The Championship & the Tri leagues are two Separate competitions.

Each competition will be be determined by individual Stableford points accrued during play, plus if applicable any additional points received due  to a single absence.

Relegation or Promotion according to your own league Stableford points.
